We’re a little late posting about this one, but let’s make it official: Dungeons of Dredmor has just been added to the Humble Introversion Bundle. Pay what you want to get four great games by legendary software developers Introversion – Uplink! Darwinia! DEFCON! Multiwinia! – and if you beat the average, not only will you get your very own, DRM-free copy of Dungeons of Dredmor PLUS a Steam key if you want it, but you’ll also get Aquaria AND Crayon Physics. Your money gets split however you want it to split – you can send all your money to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, or to Child’s Play, or to us, or you can split it however you wish. Both charities are amazing and deserve some of your money.
As an added bonus: because they’re awesome and have donated enormous amounts of money to children/The Internet, we’re letting the Humble Indie Bundle customers preview Dungeons of Dredmor build 1.0.7 a little bit before everybody else. Note that this is for the direct download version only; the Steam version is still 1.0.6. We’ll be updating the Steam build as soon as our exclusivity period ends, … although depending on our schedule, and how many bugs show up in 1.0.7 that missed our QA process, we may just put up 1.0.8 instead.
What are you waiting for? Go, and think of the Children and/or Internet!
Do you plan to add desura key for this HIB?
We are currently looking into what is required to get Desura keys into the HIB. We hope to make this an option and will give updates as soon as we get them.
Thanks for this! I hope even if you won’t be able to put those keys on the pages, the support ninjas will stil just give them away by email 😀
Loving the game!
Excellent news. I’ve now bought two copies of Dungeons of Dredmor, and still don’t have a Desura key. 🙁 Would really rather not buy it a third time to get a slick experience with the game on Linux – far better to save my money for the expansion. 🙂
Well, they’ve added Desura keys for the Introversion games now. Hopefully Dredmor will follow…
Awesome!
This prompted me to buy another bundle to gift it to a friend ( I already own a bundle – and like most of the time the games in the bundle itself )
Now I own 2 versions of DoD and gifted yet another two 🙂
I AM A LITTLE INCENSED ABOUT THIS
I have not bought the humble introversion bundle because I literally already own every game in it, including Dredmor.
I enjoyed the game a lot, and I’ve been looking forward to this patch for a while and watching the blog closely due to it.
So now the patch is actually ready, but I can’t have it unless I spend money on games I have already bought for even higher prices than the average purchase on the bundle?
Or I could spend a penny on the bundle, and leech their bandwidth/contribute to their server costs for no good reason, not to mention the shame of having spent only a penny on it.
THIS FEELS PRETTY UNFAIR
Check your e-mail.

While I am not incensed or OUTRAGED I would love to be told to check my email as well.
No worries though, I have plenty to keep me occupied if I just need to wait till 1.0.8
I have one version left to gift – if you want to have it *g*
I understand where you’re coming from.
I have the same situation. Well, not all games, but most of them I already have, and indeed paid more.
I personally don’t feel it’s a problem because I like indie devs and to support them. I don’t have much money, but they deserved what I paid. That’s why I paid in the first place, because I agreed to that price.
If then later the devs want to do some big thing for the Children/EFF then I don’t mind if they get that build a week sooner. I don’t really understand it, but I don’t mind.
If I want to give money to the Children/EFF I can donate directly or put the slider all the way over to them next bundle.
Hmm not sure what I’m trying to say here. Basically that i understand where you are coming from, that I myself have a similar situation, that i do not have a problem with it, so that if you can see it from my perspective you’ll have less or no problems either. Which is a good thing 🙂
Also the great devs of this game have already reacted so you should be good now 🙂
Alternate way of looking at it (for others, since I’m assuming Nicholas has you covered? ;):
You have two ways to get the update. 1) donate to charity (or to the devs, or etc) 2) wait a week or two
It doesn’t seem that incensing to me?
I dunno, I just bought the game less than a week ago on the Steam sale, and already feel ready to buy again for the update, and DRM-free, and The Children. Even if you pay the minimum, an extra $4 seems like a lot to call unfair.
Actually if you spend 1 penny you don’t get Dungeons of Dredmor since you won’t have beaten the average.
I’ll wait the week or two. Finals are next week. But helping charity seems like a good idea. I support everyone who gives to this cause.
I don’t mean to be a whiner, but I hate seeing the steam counter on this game stuck at 98 hours and not being able to raise it to 100 until it’s updated on steam.
Other than that, thanks for helping me become a strong, independent red haired woman wandering through a monster filled dungeon.
I bet if you were to C/P this version over your Steam version it’d pick up on it… I doubt this version is any different to what will be distributed over Steam soon. Even the Steam version is DRM-free so it’s likely that this IS the Steam version of 1.0.7, just in a zip file.
I just checked and it even has a steam_api.dll and a folder called Achievements. I’m now almost certain that transplanting this into Steam will work. Just make sure to turn off automatic updates for DoD until this version is released there (it might try and ‘downdate’ your game).
I assume there is no way to get the progress towards the steam achievements and leaderboards synced by playing the stand-alone 1.07?
Can you approximately tell, how long would it take for that exclusivity period to pass? So many exciting ways to die, i would prefer to get credited for them.
The exclusive period will end with the Humble Introversion bundle, so approximately a week from now
I love you guys so much! Will you continue to update the HIB download page with every version release? That would make me super happy.
Of course we will!
Btw that picture is full of awesome-sauce! I hope that when you load the game in 1.07/1.08 it will rotate between this one and the original menu picture.
Yay! I love the new site so much, and helping out the Humble Indie Bundle is a wonderful thing to do. You are my favourite developers, keep up the good work.
I would love to be able to see my hero with armor and helm on, more of a customization type of deal in this game you know how normal rpgs are like even in the past in diablo you can see your armor and helm on making seem more different.. that would be awesome.. thank you and i hope you take my sudjestion.. or thinking of it..
I love your game so far i just wish it had more custom ablities thats all..
This has been discussed in the past. But with the way the character animations/sprites work this simply isn’t possible without dedicating a few million artists to the task. And that was even before adding the female animations.
Awesome!
Once those keys are up on the HIB page I’ll increase my paid amount.
Hi folks, loving the game, really made me smile!
Am I being daft, I can’t find a way to change the key set-up. I’d like to save my game but can’t find out how to do it?
Cheers, The Captain
ESC should bring up the menu to save and such, If it doesn’t click the “MENU” button on the lower left above your belt toolbar.
In the MENU option you should see a button to change your key-bindings
Hmm, i donated more than the required, and i get a “This key redeems Crayon Physics Deluxe, Aquaria, and Dungeons of Dredmor on Steam” code, but it does not add Dungeons of Dredmor for some reason, anyone else had issues with that?
Restarting Steam usually ‘triggers’ the game to show up in Steam. It’s a common problem when they add games during the bundle period.
Ahh, thanks, I’ll give that a try 🙂
Hey, just got this as part of the Humble Bundle, looks fun but keeps quitting unexpectedly on my 24″ iMac running Leopard (10.5.8) with a Radeon 2600 HD – the version says 1.0.7 on the title screen.
Any ideas, or is there a patch forthcoming?
Without knowing more, I’d suggest just trying the steam version instead, as that might be some new problem with 1.0.7 that will be fixed when they officially release it.
Either that or it could be some unique problem with your computer, but I really have completely ignored Macs, so I wouldn’t know anything to suggest to determine where the problem is coming from. Hopefully downgrading will solve it for now, and when they release 1.0.7 to Steam officially, then it will work no problems
Okay, this may sound a bit weird but I hate download clients such as Desura and Steam. So it seems that this bundle is my only chance to get the game via direct download, which is it’s exactly what I wanted (and I dont own any of the other games so it’s even better).
Now I have a question : I don’t want to activate the copy I’ll buy from this bundle via Steam or Desura, but will I be able to get the future updates an other way ?
a) Yes, pretty much it’s your only chance to get the game via direct download. Certainly your best chance. It’s not a good idea to prophesy about the future, we find.
b) The Humble Bundle people are pretty good about providing you with future updates. We will be sending said updates off at the same time as we send off updates to Steam and Desura.
Same problem as the Mac guy – constant segfaults. In particular, kicking doors open frequently triggers a segfault, and three separate adventurers running have discovered that any attempt to go down to Level 3 == segfault (starting the game from a console lets me see that it’s a segfault that’s crashing it).
I’m on Ubuntu Oneiric 64-bit. Aside from the segfaults, the game runs great…
Yeah, the crashes are due to lowercase in the XML and uppercase in file names. I created symlinks to fix this (this should work on linux/OSX from a bash terminal
cd /path/to/dredmor/
find | grep '[[:upper:]]' | while read n; do A="${n##*/}"; ln -s "$A" "${n,,}"; done
There is actually a bug in the tutorial, that makes the objectives impossible to complete, because the tutorial doesn’t give you the necessary stats (for example, you must make a potion, but have no skill in alchemy). Also, if you die during one tutorial, you are automatically brought to the next one. Finally, I started the tutorial, quit it and started a new game, but when I tried to exit the game, I still got the message from the tutorial, that asked me if I wanted to exit the tutorial.
Sorry, I forgot to mention that this is related to the 1.0.7 version from the humble bundle.
Nice! A good sequel of nethack 🙂 HAPPY!
Just… watch for the segfault… there are full of them in linux…
It’s happen that the segfault comme from mistaken upercase in xml files. A Linux user made a patch for that. It must work on Mac OS to…
Any chance for a pointer as to where the patch is located? A quick Googling isn’t turning up anything helpful.
I did a quick uppercase of the files in /opt/dredmor/game and that seemed to help on level 2. Now level 3 still has some issue that segfaults…
I am getting constant segfaults with Linux, every ten minutes or so. It seems to be triggered randomly, by kicking a door, using an item…
Bought the bundle, trying to finish the tutorial, stuck when I try to cast Xeuclid’s Translation (cost 20 mana), with a character that only has 7 mana.
Bug? Feature?

bought humble pack, payed above average, got dungeons of dredmore for linux, V1.0.7. been suffering from disappearing saved games, game crashing every minute because of segfault, managed to play as a warrior(less crashes then mage) and explore both 1st and 2nd floor, while saving game every 30secs, but can’t go down the stairs to the 3rd level, game segfaults all the time in every passage… any 1.0.8 releases are beeing developed? nice game, would love to continue playing 🙂
On Linux, 64 bit, the game crashes the moment I try to go down to the third level. Tried the XML patch and that didn’t help.
Running Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit and I get constant crashing as well. Was able to do some of the tutorial maps, but can’t make it past the first room in an actual game.
Ah, is the update why I can’t access the game on Steam right now?
This seemed to fix all the segfaults for me (64-bit Linux). It was usually happening when trying to load the Robo sprites on the 3rd floor, or when kicking down a door into a monster zoo.
Fixes the ui/monsterzoo.png pathname in the binaries, does quick and dirty lowercasing of all the filenames in the xml files, and hardlinks anything uppercase with lowercase filenames. More aggressive, but symlinking didn’t seem to fix things me.
The comment field seems to have eaten the ” ( \ 0 ) in the first find command. Maybe this one will fare better.
Hi, could you say, where in your code ” ( \ 0 ) should be?
It was supposed to be between ‘\L’ and ‘\E’ on Line 3 in my earlier post. My second post looks correct though, it should do the exact same thing as intended with the first.
We have a code highlighter you can use. To use it type
I’ll change yours above for the use of others.
This game looks really nice, please make it work correctly in Linux! 🙂
